Is Monat Global a scam? Monat Global has focused on hair and skincare products as a multi-level marketing company. The company has been in the industry for a couple of years and has loyal market partners. In 2015, it was hit with hundreds of complaints and lawsuits.

History of Monat Global – Going Deeper into the Corporation

MONAT which stands for “modern nature” was founded by Luis Urdaneta in 2014. They believe that their products are scientifically proven (modern) and naturally-made (nature). 

If you check out the official site of Monat Global, you’ll notice that there are no other details mentioning how the company was founded. That is the reason why I decided to go deeper.

Alcora Corporation

Monat Global is not the only company that Luis Urdaneta has founded.

In 2001, he founded L'EUDINE Global which is also an MLM company that sells beauty products and has a direct marketing scheme.

His entire family was into the business as well. Luis’ son Javier Urdaneta was the Operations Manager. Rayner Urdaneta as the Chief Executive Officer. And daughter, Luisaylen Urdaneta as the Culture and Communications Manager that made the company a success.

Soon enough, the family business grew bigger and they launched the ALCORA Corporation which also focuses on the beauty and wellness industries. This corporation holds 4 brands; L’EUDINE, Monat, Project Beauty, and B&R Products.

Monat Global products offer a wide range of products relating to hair and skincare. As the meaning of Monat goes, the company produces scientifically tested and naturally-based products. They claim that these work for all hair and skin types, ages, and gender. 

The hair care products of this company focus on hair aging, hair loss, thinning/breakage, and dandruff. Although, all their products do not have FDA approval (almost all MLM do not).

Some of their well-known products are:

• The Champ Dry Shampoo

Currently, there are more than 60 products available on their company website. The prices would range from $22 to $99 for retail customers and $19 to $84 if you’re a VIP member.

I’m not going to tackle all the products of Monat Global since most of its ingredients are very much the same. Let’s move on now on the business opportunity that the company offers to its market partners. 

Monat Global Compensation Plan

All MLM companies have compensation plans for their distributors, it’s a matter of how much percentage they give and how easy it can be achieved. However, for most MLM companies, the number of people who can achieve the highest possible income in this industry is almost 0.5%.

Monat Global has become successful in the first few years of its business with the help of its loyal market partners and their generous compensation plan. 

So, how do you become a market partner for the company? First, you would need to buy a product pack (you can choose from 4 different packs) and pay $49 annually for you to start earning commissions. 

• Starter Kit worth $99 – you get many items when you purchase this kit. This includes assorted sample products, a SMART Start Roadmap, a SMART Start Workbook, Product Magazine + Price List VIP Booklet, and a Jelly Bag

But let’s go back first to the 5 different ways you can earn from Monat Global.

1. Sales Commission – You have the opportunity to get up to 40% commission per sale
2. Sponsor and Develop – By building your team, you have the opportunity to earn the $150 fast builder bonus and $100 fast start bonus. You also get the opportunity to get a 12% commission in the uni-level bonuses. Up to 4% in the generational bonuses which can be 5 levels deep. And an opportunity to get a 5% on the network bonus
3. Builder Bonus – If you can move quickly up the ranks to the Silver and Platinum statuses and your downlines can move up along with you, you can get the chance to earn from $500 to $1,000 bonus.
4. Advancement Bonus – If you can match your direct recruits, you can get the chance to earn from $150 to $500.
5. VIP Customer Sales – If your customers sign up for the VIP Program and enroll in monthly auto-ship, you’ll earn a 15% commission for the monthly purchases.

If you think that you can actually earn money by joining Monat Global or any MLM company for that matter, then you need to think twice.

On the research done by the AARP Foundation, 997 out of the 1,000 people they have surveyed either lost their money or were in debt by joining an MLM business. The 3 remaining people either earned a penny to $500 on an annual basis.

Reviews | Complaints | Rating

It’s only common for businesses to receive complaints from many of their customers, but I find it very alarming to see almost a thousand complaints on Monat Global.

On BBB.org alone, they already received 1,000 complaints in just 3 years. It’s also concerning that most of these complaints are not because of billing errors, but because of the alleged results that the customers are experiencing because of using their products.

Currently, Monat Global is not accredited by the Better Business Bureau and has received an A+ rating. But for some reason, I couldn’t see any details on the complaints of the people who gave their reviews. Here’s what the site says:

Lawsuits

As mentioned in the title, there are a number of class-action lawsuits that have been filed against Monat Global. Some consumers and market partners have filed these cases because of the damage the product has done to their hair.

In addition to all these things, an FDA inspector visited Monat Global’s manufacturing site in Miami last 2018 in which the inspector said the products were “prepared, packed, or held under insanitary conditions whereby it may have become contaminated with filth.”

Legit or Scam?

With a real founder, real products, and real business opportunity, there’s no doubt that Monat Global is a legit company. With all the complaints and lawsuits that are being filed against them, I’m pretty sure that they are going to have a hard time expanding and selling more of their products.

What you need to watch out for are their products. The company was founded in 2014 and by 2018, they already have more than a thousand complaints and are still building up. If this is not a red flag to you, then I don’t know what is.
